Role models about integration

We got a visit by two girls, called Nora and Sara, with a non danish background, who is called is role models, they told us about their meet with the danish culture, and how they reacted, facing the diffrent from their home.



Nora

In her elementary school years, she went to a class with almost only, immigrants or other kids wíth a non danish background. She then went to higschool, were she got a huge culture shock, where she was the only one with a non danish background.

Sara

She also were on a elementary school were all pupils where non danish. She moved to another school for uknown reasons, she got a huge shock when she got there and found out that all the kids were danish. She then moved back to the old safe school, where all her friends were.

She then moved to highschool, where she also were the non danish girl in her class, but after the first year, she fit in just perfectly, and the rest of her time her highschool where just fine.


After both of the gírls had told their stories, we discussed the diffrences between our lifes and cultures, but mainly some of the major diffrenses, for exsample, Alcohol,  the veil, how the danish people greeted them,  the rules in both of our socities, traditions about weddings and other family parties

Reflections to the movies

"Det mig" (it's me)

it's about a girl named Zainab and her sister, they moved to Denmark when they were children, they knew little to none danish, they stayed on a couple of different orphanage. One of main things that she gets a culture shock when she first got here. Both the orphanage had big troubles dealing with the sister, because could not speak any danish.

The movie made us think about how, the orphanage handles immigrant children, and how it could be better, and how we could give them a better start/experience in the danish culture, so they won't get the same kind of shock, when they first get here.


"Sumaya"

it's a young muslim girl, another Young Danish girl ís making a short film about her religous aspects of her life. The muslim is very strong beliver of the muslim fatih, while the Danish girl is almost a non beliver.

We find it odd that she is such a strong beliver, even though she lives in a subcultured country as Denmark where the majority of the inhibitants are christian. She lives under her parents rules, her parents are also strong belivers of the muslim faith.


Josefine 2900 hellerup

In this movie it's reverse, it's the muslim girl making a short film about the danish gírl. And again it's about showing religous belivs, but this time it's a white rich girl.

When we heard talking the first, we felt like she was very unintelligent when she was talking, because she change her opinion every time she spoke, and her opinions she sounded like did not know anything about it

Now that we have been watching all theses short films we conclud that, everyone have a diffrent opinion on ther religious belivs, and they have the right to have a different one.

Refugee/fugitive:  A refugee is a person, who is seeking for a asylum, and is then recognised as a refugee.

Immigrant: A person who moved to another country, and  thought of staying for a longer period of time.

Asylum seeker: A foreigner who seeks for the right to stay in the chosen country as an immigrant to get protection but isn't recognised as an immigrant.

Asylum: Asylum is given to a person who seeks protection in another country.

Integration: when a person integrates in another country, which is not your own country.

Residence permit: When a foreigner gets permission to stay in the chosen country.

Citizenship: When you're a member of a country/state.





We do have an question for you, do you know the diffrene between a refugee and a fugitive, and word you would use?
